Contact Ken Newquist (newquisk@lafayette.edu) and ask him if HACK-DOC 2014JAN is going to have portions devoted to new developer. Unlikely, but he'll know where the materials from previous sessions are stored.
Aside from that the very best thing IMO you can do is to pick something you want to fix, contact myself or somebody from CLAMP (cme.clamp-it.org) for help in locating files to look at for the problem and then "dig in". Its amazing how smart you can get having to fix something and how not smart you get reading about it.
